Dental Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and bridges are restorative treatments used to repair damaged teeth or replace missing teeth. At Peace Valley Dental, our goal is to provide restorations that look, feel, and function like natural teeth while supporting long-term oral health. These treatments play an important role in restoring chewing ability, speech, comfort, and facial balance.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a custom restoration that covers and protects a tooth that has been weakened by decay, fracture, wear, or root canal treatment. Crowns restore strength, shape, and function while blending naturally with your smile.

Crowns may be recommended when:

  • A tooth is badly broken or worn

  • A large filling has weakened the tooth

  • A tooth has hairline cracks causing discomfort

  • A tooth has undergone root canal therapy

  • Older restorations are affecting appearance or function

Crowns are a reliable, long-term solution and are often used to correct more severe dental concerns.

Same-Day Crowns with CEREC Technology

In many cases, we are able to design and mill your crown right here in our office using CEREC technology. This advanced system allows us to create custom porcelain crowns in a single visit.

With digital impressions and in-office milling, same-day crowns offer:

  • No temporary crown

  • No second appointment

  • Precise digital fit

  • Durable, natural-looking results

Not every case is suited for same-day treatment, but when appropriate, CEREC allows us to restore your tooth efficiently and comfortably.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to neighbouring natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges help restore proper function and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment.

Replacing missing teeth is important for:

  • Chewing and speaking comfortably

  • Maintaining facial support

  • Preventing excessive stress on remaining teeth

  • Reducing the risk of gum disease

  • Preserving proper bite alignment

Bridge Options

Bridges may be:

  • Fixed, meaning they are permanently cemented in place

  • Removable, meaning they can be taken out for cleaning

Fixed bridges are more commonly used and offer greater stability. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate option based on your needs.

How Crowns and Bridges Are Placed

Treatment typically requires two visits.

During the first appointment:

  • The supporting tooth or teeth are prepared

  • Impressions are taken for precise fabrication

  • A temporary restoration is placed

At the second visit:

  • The temporary restoration is removed

  • The final crown or bridge is fitted and adjusted

  • The restoration is permanently secured

Materials and Durability

Crowns and bridges may be made from high-quality porcelain, porcelain bonded to gold, or other durable materials depending on the location of the tooth and functional demands.

In some cases, gold restorations may be recommended for back teeth due to their exceptional strength, smooth surface, and long-term durability.

With proper care, crowns and bridges can last many years and provide reliable, predictable results.

Caring for Crowns & Bridges

Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential. Regular brushing, flossing, and routine dental visits help protect both the restoration and the supporting teeth it relies on.
