Gum Disease Laser Therapy

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, occurs when bacteria builds up below the gum line and begins to damage the tissues and bone that support the teeth. Because it often progresses quietly and without pain, gum disease can go unnoticed until more serious damage has occurred. Left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to gum recession, bone loss, and tooth loss.

A Gentle, Conservative Treatment Option

Modern gum disease treatment may include the use of laser therapy. Dental lasers allow us to gently disinfect and remove diseased tissue from around the teeth and inside gum pockets, helping interrupt bacterial activity and support healing.

Laser therapy is often recommended for early to moderate stages of gum disease and may reduce the need for more invasive surgical treatment.

Benefits of Laser Gum Therapy

Laser-assisted periodontal treatment offers several advantages:

  • Gentle and minimally invasive

  • Less discomfort compared to traditional methods

  • Reduced bleeding and swelling

  • Faster recovery time

  • Supports healing of gum tissues

Treatment is typically completed over a series of visits, allowing the gums time to heal and respond to therapy.

When Is Laser Therapy Recommended?

Laser gum therapy may be appropriate for patients who:

  • Have early to moderate gum disease

  • Experience gum bleeding, inflammation, or recession

  • Want a conservative approach to periodontal care

  • Are looking for a more comfortable treatment option

Your dentist will assess your gum health and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan for your needs.
